{nye & bar carts}

Hi friends...
 Hope you all had a lovely Christmas!

Sorry I have been MIA.  I decided to take a little bloggy break around the holiday to enjoy my family.   I am going to try and tackle my inbox in the next few days, so if you are waiting on an email from me, it's coming! Mr.Cattlebuyer has been home for 3 solid weeks now, which if any of you know our "normal" (aka not normal at all) schedule, it is a BIG DEAL.  I've been trying to savor every minute, I know he has too.

Do y'all have plans for new years eve tonight??? For the past few years we've had people over to our place, but this year we decided to go out! Not too far just down the block...but still we are headed out.  But in case some of you are staying in and having your own party don't forget to include a fancy bar cart to serve your festive beverages on.

Here's my collection of favorites::

Or you can't ever go wrong with a classic style

Or maybe choosing one with a pop of color is more up your alley?

I don't think you could go wrong with any of these, and heck you can always use them after tonight...these are great for parties and get-togethers year round.  They even work as an impromptu buffet if you are short on space.

The possibilities are endless.

Hope you all enjoy the last day of 2012-- I'm looking forward to 2013 being the best year yet!

{merry merry!}

Merry Christmas Eve!

The trees and lights are up, gifts have been wrapped, the ribbons tied, cookies baked (or bought...in my case), the cards have been sent, the candles are lit, and loved ones are near.

Now is the time to celebrate the Birth of our Savior! My favorite night of the year!

{white & emerald }

Happy Friday!

Hope this post finds you all good spirits! Looks like we here in the midwest really are going to have a WHITE Christmas after this week.  After living in Texas last year, snow is actually a nice surprise these days.

Our Christmas season feels complete! :)

love the artwork

With all this white snow, I just can't help but think about Emerald Green.  Pantone's 2013 color of the year!

Now's the time to be thinking of how you can easily incorporate some of this gorgeous color into your own home.   Here's a few pieces/treatments you could work into some of your existing decor!

{sickness & heartache}

color blocked

Sorry for the silence this week.  Not going to lie...last Friday's horrific and overwhelming tragedy in Connecticut still has me in a bit of a slump.  It's hard to type/write when your heart hurts for so many people.  It's hard to think of anything except those grieving the unthinkable loss of their babies.

Lately, I've just wanted to spend time with my little one.  Not much else. I know I am not alone in this desire.  And thank goodness, I have that privilege at my fingertips.  It's a sweet blessing I know I am guilty of sometimes taking for granted.

In addition to grieving with the entire nation, we as a family unfortunately also got hit by the worst stomach bug ever Sunday night which wiped out our entire family along with 10+  members of our extended family.  It's was absolutely awful.  Thankfully we are almost back to 100% healthy today.  Now just trying to play catch up amidst the holiday madness. I've accepted that some things this year are just going to not get done (my goodness...only 6 days until Christmas!)  and I'm good with that.  Sorry homemade creative gifts and baking a tray of Christmas treats. Not going to happen this year.

Maybe next year. Or maybe not.

Maybe I'll just hug my boys and thank God for the blessings all around me.

May God bless you all during these wonderfully joyful days of advent! God is good always!

{gift guide:: for the home}

Happy Friday Friends!!

Today I'm sharing with y'all some of my unique home decor gift giving ideas.  Some are um...how do I say it, pricier than others, but they are all pretty fantastic if you ask me! ;)

Napkin Rings.
Something so simple, but Sheridan's bright signature colors in these will be sure to bring a smile to the face of the gift giver & receiver!

I know...most people do not ask for pretty shelf brackets for Christmas. I however, am not most people.  I would die if these were found under my tree this year.  I envision pairing these with some cool reclaimed wood planks for a contrasting statement.

Animal prints are still going strong into 2013.  How about gifting this serving tray paired with a bottle of your friends favorite liquor?

Fancy Pants Monogrammed Napkins.  Again- something most people wouldn't  buy for themselves. But these would be an ideal for that monogram obsessed lady (not that I know anyone like that...*wink*wink*)!
Leontine Linens, $60.

You can never go wrong with a good coffee table book.  This one has been on my list for too long!

Of course this artwork is a total splurge! But for reals. who doesn't want a lulie wallace piece? I know I do! My favorite artist of 2012.

For the budget friendly version...she has some fun prints in her shop for around $50.

Last but not least...I'm digging this antique plate server. The mint color and subtle polka-dots would appeal to any girly girl!

Of course, my list could go-on-and-on-and-on with homegood gift ideas...but I will leave it at that.

Hope y'all have a fabulous weekend-- only 11 days til Christmas! The countdown is on.

I'll be back later today to announce the winner of my E*design Consultation, thanks again to everyone who has entered can't wait to find out the winner!

{black & gold}

What colors do you decorate with for Christmas?

Are you traditional: red & green
Fresh & Crisp : white & silver
Colorful Brights: pinks/oranges/yellow
Frosty: blue & teal

Or maybe you have your own unique color mix?

Personally, I'm thinking about mixing up my usual silver/white Christmas decor next year with some black and gold accents.    I love the contrast between the two and it just feels like a color combination that could stretch from thanksgiving to well after new years with a few little tweeks.

Here are some of my black & gold holiday inspiration::

The gold foil liners are the perfect un-expected touch for Christmas Cards

Black doors with artsy gold lettering (would love to know what these are made of!? Any ideas?).  Either way, LOVE them.

How cute is this glittery bowtie garland? Possible DIY ?

Saw this print last year on Holly Mathis Interiors Blog.  Still love it a year later...

{100,000!!}

Yay! We reached our goal of 100,000 page views over the weekend!

I'm still pinching myself over here!  :)

Thanks again to all my wonderful readers, friends, family and clients that keep my little blog going! Y'all are BEST!  I would probably still update my blog even if I didn't have any readers...because there was a time when that was true.  But, I must say,  it makes it more worthwhile these days knowing there are people that actually read what I have to share!  This blog has been my "voice" for past few years.  My good friend De, encouraged me to start a blog shortly after I graduated college.  I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.  I did a lot of "google-ing" that first year how to use "links" and join parties and how to design a header and create buttons ect. ect.  This blog wasn't something I learned in college (there were website designing classes...but I never did take one!) honestly I'm glad I didn't.  I just don't think a website reaches your readers & clients as deep as blog does.  A blog shows your readers your real day-to-day personality and voice-- something a normal website can't do!  I'm just so thankful that people actually want to read and see what I have to share & say.  It's pretty awesome.

Anyways- that is all to say, I love this place.  It's my baby. I know I don't get to blog as much as I like to these days (real life family and work priorities will always come first for me) but this is a hobby I can't imagine ever stopping.     Thus to celebrate reaching my goal, I'm giving away an interior e*design consultation!!!! Have you ever wanted to get a little design help, but have just never had the disposable income to spend on interior design guidance? Well wait no longer-- this is your TIME! :)

Interior E*Design Consultations are valued at $300.00. The consultation comes with a custom design board made uniquely for your room! If you do not have a google account to comment below email me at
moderngracedesigns {at} hotmail  {dot} com and I will get your name entered in the drawing.  Winner will be announced this Friday! For an extra bonus entry follow Modern Grace Designs on blogger and leave a comment telling me you did! Easy-Peasy!  :)

(2 entries per person maximum)

Thanks again to all my wonderful friends and family!

{tartan & celebrating}

Happy Friday!

I can't believe how quickly this week has passed by...not that I'm complaining.  We've been living for the weekends (pretty much since JUNE!!!) I always welcome Friday with open arms.  We have a work Christmas Party Saturday night (you know what that means, date night!!!) Can you tell we don't get out much by my excitement?! (or I haven't been anyways...) ;)

Needless to say, I needed a new going-out dress.  One that was holiday appropriate.  And you know being that the holidays are here-- I have a certain affinity for tartan.  It just feels festive without being too in your face.  As much as I love glitters and sequins, I would rather not stand out THAT much at this particular event.

Thus leads me to my 1st choice::

Devon Baer Dress

It's so classic, yet a little flirty and fun.  And I like that it's not your "typical" holiday colors. I am so into it.  Unfortunately, it's not available right now.

go figure...
such is my luck.

Luckily I found a good stand-in.  I will share it with you next week! :)

Anyways,

 I just couldn't help but not connect the dots between the DB dress with one of my favorite inspiration photos below::

I mean seriously...how amazing is that tile floor?! I have never seen anything like it before!
Talk about unique and one-of-a-kind.

 Plaid bathroom tile!

Also, in totally un-related news...
  I am so close to hitting 100,000 page views on my blog (will probably happen tomorrow)! This is so exciting for little ol' me! Thus, I decided I am going to celebrate with a giveaway next week for all my loyal readers! Believe me you don't want to miss it!

Hope you all have a great weekend-- see you back here next week!

{champagne dressers}

Champagne Dressers...like em or love um?!

I'm in the "love um" category.  I would die to have one of these for roverboy's next big boy bedroom!

I'm digging the gold hardware and green paint in the inspiration photo below::

awesome green dresser

I about fell over backwards when I saw this photo on my friends facebook feed last night....this super talented lady refinishes old furniture pieces and this beauty was for sale in Omaha last night at The Style Bar.  This was one of her creations.  Isn't it just perfection? Unfortunately we simply do not have room right now for one more piece of furniture without busting out walls, otherwise I would have seriously looked into purchasing this guy.  I'm not sure if it sold or not...but it might be worth emailing her if you are local!

Look her up on facebook:: Celadon Goods

Hope you all have a great Thursday!

{gift guide for toddler boys}

Happy Wednesday Friends!

Sorry I've be absent lately, life has been keeping me rather busy!  Anyways-- I'm back today with my gift guide for toddler boys.  We've already gotten a few of these for our little guy (don't worry he certainly isn't getting ALL of this!) I am planning on keeping Christmas gifts for our child (and future children) thoughtful and practical...I want my children to know this holiday isn't really about US it's about JESUS! I want them to DREAM BIG (it's such a magical time of year!) but yet not be filled with greedy mile-long Christmas wish lists.  This will also be a tough lesson for myself (resisting buying every little thing he asks for...)Thus my selections-- I am going to try and give both useful and FUN gifts (I'm sure this will get more difficult as the years go by...) but that is my hope!

Without further ado:

Maclaren Volo Stroller::

We finally bit the bullet and ordered this.  This guy is going to be our work horse for running errands (I use my jogger nearly every day!). Roverboy already weighs over 30 pounds and honestly I can't stand to carry him much longer (wish we had this stroller last year!) The volo holds up to 55 pounds and is wider than your normal umbrella stroller.  Also it doesn't have those annoying wheels that always get stuck (can't stand that!) and the handles are higher than your typical umbrella stoller, for more comfortable steering (one handed!). It also folds up nice and tight and has a carrying strap!  It's pretty much awesome...can't say enough good things about it!

Books::
I love books (we have way too many already) but there is always room for a few new classics!

chicka chicka boom boom for learning the alphabet!

skippy jon jones for fun!

Where the wild things are, another great classic.  We all know how much boys like MONSTERS!

Melissa & Doug Architectural Building Blocks::

I love all toys made by Melissa and Doug! They are so well made and I love that they aren't PLASTIC.

These architectural building blocks are so cool and different than your standard wooden blocks.  Practice for my future architect in training perhaps??!! ;)

Hunters Wellies::

Every little boy needs a pair of rain boots for splashing in the mud!

Chuggington Station Movie::

Chuggington Station is a hit at our house...roverboy begs for me to play you tube "Chuggington Station" videos whenever he sees my phone!  Kid loves his trains! I think this one will be a big hit!

Hooded Bath towels::

Love snuggling my boy right after his bath! Hooded towels help keep little ones nice and warm especially in these cold winter months!  I thought this superhero cape from lands end was especially fun!

Hope this little list helps some of you who have little boys on your shopping lists this year!

Have a wonderful day!

{white christmas}

I love all things white year round...but I especially love embracing white in the month of December!

flocked tree love

The flocked tree, white candies in glass urns, fresh white slipcovers, and gorgeous tulips all having me dreaming of a white Christmas this year! It'd be so easy to include some of these simple ideas in your own home!
