{magazine storage}

I don't know if y'all remember, but before pinterest.  All there was for people like me to find inspiration was magazines and books.  Yes, some of you may still get mags in the mail (my favorite are: country living, coastal living, architecture digest, and garden & gun.)  I know it's not THAT old school, as I still do love flipping through magazines, it's just that most of the pictures (my favorite part of magazines) are already pinned a day after said publication comes out.  Thus, it's just as easy and convenient for me to flip through pinterest or a e-mag.

However besides not buying magazines any more I do still have a large collection of old publications I just can't seem to part with.

My biggest challenge with actual magazines is that whenever I do receive them I always want to keep them (you know the piles of magazines that appear through out your home...).  It drives me nuts! I have this weird hoarder tendency that makes me want to hang on to every publication for fear that I may want to look at it again?! I surely am not the only one with this internal fear?

Well here is your (and my) answer:

beautiful magazine storage, spines facing inward.  Are you dying? So simple, yet genius.

I'm off to go flip all my magazines over....hope y'all have a wonderful Tuesday! :)

{eclectic fall style}

I love fall, I can't get enough of this beautiful weather.

Sometimes I stumble upon a room that just feels  very "fall-ish" to me.  Like I could jump into the photo and make myself right at home.  This photo below is totally THAT eclectic room that just feels cozy and warm (despite having white walls!).

First of all that bookcase/hutch is just a total show stopper.  The combination of the perfect deep charcoal paint + unexpected sideways spine out books + mirrored back + lighting + convex mirror = LOVE.  I also love a room with a combination of textures, this room has just that with the beautiful linen chair, braided natural rug, weathered wood, shiny garden stool, and antique veneer on the picture frames, all of it creates the ideal atmosphere for one's senses.

Although it seems very eclectic with such a combination of styles/textures/patterns it all totally works and creates a cozy, live-able yet styled room.

Hope y'all are feeling inspired this morning, have a great Monday!

{things i like}

Sometimes its fun to talk about something other than pretty rooms, furniture, lighting, paint colors, ect.

right? okay, not THAT often but sometimes it's fun to mix it up a bit! :)

I'm sort of dying to get back into sewing...like as in quilt sewing.  Yes, I know you think I've lost my marbles as I have never sewn a quilt. ever.  But i figure this one below looks fairly basic.  I mean it is just squares after all, how hard can it be?! ;)

I'm also planning a little two year old's party around these pillows.  Um yea, only an interior design freak like me would find party inspiration out of a set of pillows! I know I've shown these on the blog before, I kind of love them.

Also, In all my free time, I really dream of taking a calligraphy class. Isn't this the most beautiful handwriting you've ever seen?

I also made my first batch of pun'kin bread the other day.  I followed this recipe below, you should try it.  You won't regret it.
I would have taken a picture of it, but it was consumed before I had a chance.

Pumpkin Bread
3.5 c flour
3 c sugar
2 tsp baking soda
1.5 tsp salt
4 eggs
2/3 c water
1 c oil
1 can pumpkin
3 tsp cinnamon
3 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp ginger
Combine dry ingredients. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour into 2 greased loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour.

Also before I wrap this most random post ever up, I would like to share with you the most awesome blog EVER.  I mean seriously I was "lol-ing" all last night.  I read her entire blog.  Does that make me like a total stalker? I just couldn't stop reading, her writing is absolutely spot on.  She is new my new fave blogger.  Expect to see her blog on my sidebar asap!

Hope y'all are having a fantastic Thrusday!

I love everything about this dreamy kitchen, I've had it saved on my hard drive for quite a while as inspiration!  (Although I may have done a more neutral or all together different color on the walls...not a huge fan of the bright golden yellow, too matchy with the metal lights) but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE those gorgeous industrial pendant lights.  I mean hello...such statement pieces!  The white on white and the subway tile + carrara marble totally pulls on my heart strings and is the perfect backdrop for the pendants.   As always, I'm a total sucker for a nice bridge sink as well.

So what do y'all think of this kitchen? Do you agree with me on the too matchy-matchy wall color?

Hope y'all have a great Monday...be back soon!

{birthday girl!}

I can't believe it, but my precious niece is ONE year old today! Sis and I went out and took pictures of her on Wednesday...I'm sorta in love with this sweet angel, if you can't tell!  It's always fun to have an excuse to bust out my camera and practice my photog skills as well, and of course it doesn't hurt to have such a cute little model baby!

Happy Birthday Sweet Girl! We love you!

{small spaces}

The only thing worse than living in a small space, is living in a large space then being squished into a small space! Not that I would know or anything....*wink,wink*

But really, I truly do love small homes.  I would actually prefer a quaint smaller home with character than a larger home with no unique features and cheap finishes, you catch my drift? I'm sure at some point or another we've all been forced to live in small spaces and you are forced to deal with making it WORK. (Tim Gunn anyone?)

My current situation is a clear lack of office space...Mr.Cattlebuyer and I have been making due but it's not pretty.

However I've been admiring this beauty below.  I really think it's a winner.  storage + disguised work space = genius.  I'm also really into the heirloom look and feel of this secretary, it totally reminds me of restoration hardware piece, but surprisingly you can find this beauty at your local crate and barrel (and on sale too)! You just can't beat that!

While I'm adding this to my ever-growing wish list, I hope you all are enjoying the end of your day!

Happy Wednesday!
