{color crush: orange}

Happy Halloween Everyone!

Hope y'all are having a great Monday! In honor of this boo-ti-ful day, I'm featuring the color of the day: ORANGE.

I love the expression that Orange makes...use it subtly in your accessories or use it boldly on your walls, and you are guaranteed to make a statement!

Orange is one of those colors that really packs a punch so to speak.... doesn't this room just look warm and inviting?

I'm diggin' those cream + orange curtains...and the black accents, pure perfection.

How about transforming a piece of furniture in an orange-looking stain?

Orange and black accessories pulled off effortlessly.  Looks like this table scape could go from Halloween to thanksgiving with no tweaking.

Oh. my. word. I Love how they took a traditional claw foot tub and used a "nontraditional" color on it.
Super fun!

Like I said...Orange packs a punch! These dining chairs take my breath away!

Last but not least, this room was featured on HGTV's color splash.  If a bright orange scares you...try a more peachy-orange.  It's a little more subdued, but still provides that warm feeling to a room.  And can I just say...Orange and turquoise is such a awesome combination.

Also, did you notice....the ghost chairs?! So perfect for this small dining space!

Thanks for stopping by today!

We are off to do some trick-r-treating tonight with our little rooster....I'm already envisioning flying white feathers everywhere! Wish us luck! ;)

Be back tomorrow!

{free fonts}

As you can see...I've been playing around with my header....again. it's only like the 10th time in the past year!
i can't leave well enough alone.

I'm definitely not graphic designer...but i really do like this new header- I may actually keep it for longer than just a few months. maybe... :)

and, I'm admitting now my new realization:

I'm sorta a font snob.

nothing makes me happier than a pretty font.

 here are some pretty {free} ones I found online...most of these are from!

go download a new font....they are so easy to install and believe me, they will brighten your day and make writing so much more fun! You may even decide to re-design your whole blog page...if you are {odd} like me! :)

Happy Sunday Loves!

{friday: random-ness}

It's here is the most random grouping of photos that capture our last few days! Hope these don't bore you to pieces....if so, just scroll to the end!

Anyone that knows me knows I have a slight addiction to Diet Mountian's quite pathetic.  Mr. Cattlebuyer says I need to wean myself off, he thinks I have a serious problem. But I read somewhere that if you drink your soda with a straw, it's better for your teeth? So I'm giving it a try this week...I'll let ya know how it goes.. :)

This crop plane totally freaked me out this week... he came swooping by our house multiple times coming within feet of hitting our roof.  I'm glad this is not my husband's occupation.

I've been meaning to make my nugget a growth chart, pretty much since he was born which was over a year ago.  I really loved the idea of using a real board, but I figured with all the moves in our future hauling around a 6' board would be a pain.  So, I made him this canvas one instead:

I figure it will transport much better...we can just roll it up when we move!

I swear I'm planning on filling my Etsy shop soon,  here's a sneak peek at what's to come! do you like-y?

I saw this image's a good reminder for me.

Last but not least, nugget and I have been outside enjoying the beautiful fall weather!

now if that wasn't my most random post than I don't know what is... :)

I'm linking up with life rearranged today, hope y'all have a great day!

{design board: aqua and coral master bedroom}

This master bedroom design board was created around the homeowners love of being near the it only makes sense the color scheme is aqua & coral, with some unusual touches of charcoal and gold.  This bedroom retreat is centered around the fabulous aqua upholstered headboard.  It's grand shape paired with the nail head trim and bun feet really make this bed stand-out.  The bedding will be a contrasting anthropologie coral quilt with an extra layer at the bed: a simple white comforter.  Accent pillows in charcoal, coral, and gold prints will highlighted on the regal bed scape.  Above the bed will hang this breathtaking pendant, which will be the "jewel" of the room, and make this bedroom feel more intimate.  The bed will be flanked by two beautiful restoration hardware nightstands with matching horse statue lamps.  Above the nightstands will hang matching twig star burst mirrors. One wall will feature a fabulous gold metal table which will also serve as a desk for the homeowners.  We slid a comfortable tufted chair in a neutral solid next to the table to make it a multipurpose piece of furniture.  We added two gold poofs at the end of the bed for extra seating and for a pop of gold.  The wood floors will be warmed up with two gorgeous charcoal grey printed area rugs.  The room will be completed with some neutral linen curtains, watercolor coral artwork in gold metal frames, and some actual pieces of coral on the desk.

The unusual color palate is what makes this bedroom unique, but still feel "beachy" without being the typical sea blues and sandy browns that we typically think of when we think of a "ocean" or "beach" inspired room. The subtle hints of aqua and coral with pops of gold really make this room a perfect reflection of the homeowners love of the ocean.

Hope you all are having a great Thursday! Is it just me or is this week flying by?! We are getting rain here today, which makes me want to stay in my pjs and craft all day long.... too bad I have laundry and dishes that need to be conquered first!

I'll try to post some fun craft projects I've been working on soon!

{wiww: stripes}

Happy Wednesday Friends! It's the middle of the week, so you know what that means! I'm linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for another week of outfit inspiration!

If your a daily reader of my blog, than you already know how much I love stripes....they just make me smile. so does ice cream. and my sweet boys.

So whenever I need a pick-me-up...I put on this shirt, then I usually eat a bowl of ice cream with my boys!  :)

Stripe-y shirt: Wally
Jeans: Dillards
Leather Belt: Buckle
Turquoise Necklace: made by me
Booties: Target

I bought that mammoth piece of Turquoise at a bead show a long time ago...sadly, I never knew what to do with it.  But I know those sliced agate necklaces are popular right I wire wrapped my mammoth chuck of Turquoise to a chain.  Not sure I like seems like if I were to bend down I could knock out my child with it.  But I suppose it adds a color to my otherwise neutral outfit so I'll go with it this week!

Hope y'all have a wonderful Wednesday! Come see me again next week!

{designer love: lauren leonard interiors}

I'm obsessed with nearly everything in this bedroom.  It's too much pretty in one space!

Loving the dark ebony wall color paired with all the almost seems to have a little ethnic vibe with all the beautiful textures incorporated into this room.  The shape of the upholstered headboard is amazing paired with the nail head trim detailing.  The bold metal pendant light really emphasizes the bed as the focal point.  The camel curtains allow just a enough light to peak through to lighten up the space.  And that tree stump turned into a lamp is too.die.for.

Whats your favorite part of this room? I'm going to go with the bed! :)

Hope y'all have a wonderful Tuesday! Come see me tomorrow for WIWW!

{color: mossy green}

I've always had a love affair for any shade of green...

it's such a perfect color...thank you Mother Nature for creating such beautiful shades of green.

One of my current loves is mossy green. Check out these fab walls....bold and classic.

don't be afraid of color...

Loving the black and white accents in this room...

maybe doing an entire wall is too much for about using it as an accent color.
Like this little beauty below:

Or maybe this, be still my beating heart...

or maybe just add a few fun throw pillows?

Even if the leaves are beginning to turn gold, orange, and red. I'm still all about green.

Happy Monday Friends!

{inspiration: dreamy kitchen}

Check out this dreamy white kitchen....

I saw this image online and saved it instantly! I'm head over heels for those open shelves with the goregous blue glass jars, milk glass, and pottery.  It's insanely beautiful.  I'm also digging the white cabinets, white subway tiles, paired with the dark stained floors and the black industral light fixtures.

The rooster ceramics remind me of my Grandma Pearl...she collects roosters. :)

I love how it looks like someone actually lives here....don't you?

Happy Sunday Lovelies!

{one year}

One year

How could it be that you are already one year old….it seems we were just in the clinic finding out if you were a boy or a girl, and now you are already one. The past year, has been one of the best years, and I suspect the upcoming years will be just as great. Watching you grow, change, and learn has been such a joy for us. We are always talking about and reflecting on “remember when he used to…….” Because you have changed from a baby into a little boy right before our eyes. We love reminiscing about all the things you used to do, we already have a memory list a mile long, and you are only one. I’m so thankful I started journaling all your milestones, even if it meant I had to take a 15 minute break out of my day because the past year flew by so quickly and I’m sure as the years go by I will forget all the “little” memories I had of you in your first year of life. Your first smile, first tooth, first word, first time crawling ,first food, first time walking, first everything….

We had your one year check up with Dr. Turner and you checked out perfect! 25 lbs and 2 '6" tall.  We had to get you six shots, which weren't much fun for you or mommy, but now you will be healthy and protected! You are eating more and more solid food everyday, little bites from mommy and daddy.  Your favorite foods are cheerios, graham crackers, saltine crackers, applesauce, bananas, and any type of pumpkin or banana.  You recently learned how to drink out of a straw....and now you LOVE straws.  We may just skip the sippy cup all together and go right to the straw.  You still love your milk, but now you only get cow's milk instead of formula.  You usually drink 3 bottles of a milk a day, we are trying to "ween" you off your bottles...but you love your bottles so it's been a little challenging! :)  You mostly wear size 12-18 mo. clothes, but you can also fit into 18-24 mo. clothes already!  You are such a big boy!

Your favorite activities are getting into the kitchen cupboards and pulling out all of mommy's bowls and spoons.  You also love chasing mommy around when she is vacuuming....for some reason you love the vacuum cleaner.  We also still go to the park and walk, which you love.  We use our jogger stroller now, which gives you lots of room and protects you from the sun much better! You love the big wheels on the stroller, when we are done walking, you usually get to run around and play for a while at the park.  You run fast and make mommy chase after you! You still love looking out our front windows at all the cars and birds that go by.

Your favorite toys are some of your new birthday toys! You love anything with wheels, for your birthday you got a john deere 4-wheeler, you hop on it every day at least 10 times.  You press the buttons and wait for mommy or daddy to push you around on it! You also love your singing elephant, golf caddy, "teddy" the leap frog, monster truck race cars, and anything with buttons! You also like anything that makes noises, you dance and bop your head to the beat of the music! :) We love watching you do your little dance, you bend your knees and bop your head and sometime you even spin in circles! :)

Your favorite books are "the very hungry caterpillar", "click cluck" , "the car book", and both your touch and feel farm books.  We had to put up some of your other books because you like to chew on them and ruin them by tearing them apart.....we'll get them all out again soon when you get a little bigger!

Your best friends all happen to be girls....hum?!  Your friend Eizley came over last weekend and you loved having her here, although you were a little "rough" around her.  You don't really understand how to interact with other babies...but someday your daddy will teach you! :) You also love to climb up on things, like the couch.  You've learned to put your leg up and get up on the couch so you can sit like a big boy.  You also learned how to blow kisses, wave bye-bye, and shake your head "yes" and "no".  You still love pointing at things, especially lights or windows.  You sleep in your crib all night long, and for all your naps.  You are down to one long nap a day...which mommy loves.  You also go to bed earlier now that you are down to only one nap, usually around 8:30-9 ish.

You are so special to us Cash Austin, we cannot wait to tell you all the stories we have of you, all the memories we’ve made in the past year and the years to come. As much as it makes me long for the “baby” days, when you just ate, and slept….I am also so grateful for the present because I’ve watched you grow into a walking , talking, little handsome curly-haired boy who we absolutely adore.  You are such a huge blessing to daddy and I, we thank God for you every day.  You make our lives feel complete and happy.  You are the source of most of the joy in our lives and we wouldn't have it any other way.  We love the little boy you are, and the wonderful man you will someday be.  We love you with all of our hearts! Here's to another 70+ years watching you grow!

Forever and always,

{more birthday celebrating!}

I'm well aware that this post is a little overdue....we had his party over two weeks ago. but, better late than never....Of course this year, we had to celebrate Cash's birthday twice...once in Texas and once in Nebraska.  I got the inspiration for the "Very Hungry Caterpillar" because Cash absolutely loves the book.  He loves putting his little fingers into the "holes" of the food/leaf.  He does it every. single. time. never. fails.  And when Mr. Cattlebuyer was a babe, he too, had a "caterpillar" cake/party.  Cool right?

For this party I got a little more daring with the "cake" and we put together a Caterpillar cupcake "cake".  The green cupcakes were the body and I made a small round smash cake for the head of the caterpillar.

I made the banner from easy.  I used a font template to cut out all the letters...most people said I was crazy, but I figured I can reuse this banner for atleast a couple years! And it really didn't take that long...good thing we named our baby with a short lettered name! :) We covered the wall with some left over gift wrap and protected the floor with a plastic tablecloth!

The "caterpillar" was a hit! I also picked up the jumbo lollipops at the dollar tree for the older kiddos....I'm sure their parents really appreciated the gesture!  ;)

All the party decor was super easy...I used a roll of target gift wrap, cut out the shape of a leaf and punched holes in them, and hot glued pom-pom's together to create the caterpillars!

I made the party hat's using a template I found online and a stack of scrapbooking paper in different colors and hot glued some elastic and a pom-pom on top.  Of course the birthday boy's got a little more decorated....yes, I'm fully aware he is going to kill me some day for making him wear that party hat! :)

We did the cake "smash" at the end of the party....

Overall it was an awesome time for everyone! We created lots of memories to share with our nugget for years to come...even if it means he may hate me for putting him in that silly hat! :)  I'm so thankful for the wonderful friends and family that we have that came to share in the celebration of our boy. We are so blessed!

Happy Sunday Everyone!

{friday random-ness}

Happy Friday all, since usually my brain is feeling exhausted by this point in the week.  I've decided I'm going to start doing completely random posts on Friday's...mmmmk? mmmmk.

Just pretend like we are both small talking over a cup of coffee at my house this is what I'd talk to you about:

I realized I still hadn't sent out any thank you cards from Cash's birthday party which was over 2 weeks ago....horrible mommy.  Luckily I had some leftover cardstock from Cash's 1st birthday invitations, so I whipped up some fun and simple thank you cards this week:

They were super simple to make and were made with all my leftover supplies! I just cut a rainbow of triangles, stamped on my letters, lightly glued them on to the card stock, and stitched across the top of them with my sewing machine! Pretty easy!

I also wound up running into Dollar General this week for some mailing envelopes and I found these ugly white plastic urns:

Except when I checked out: they were only 90 cents instead of the $3.00 price tag they had on them! Score!

So I took them home and a couple coats of black matte spray paint later:

Best $1.80 I ever spent :)  I can totally invision these urns being used year round: mini Christmas trees in the winter, stacked toparies in the spring and summer, and pumpkins in the fall! Perfect!

I also discovered thee best pumpkin bread recipe...yes, yes I know I shared the world's easiest recipe last week, but I've found something even yummier! (is that even a word?) Anyways, you have to try this recipe too...although it does take a few more ingredients than the other "bread" its delish and still super easy!

Pumpkin Bread:
3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
3 c sugar
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cinnamon
4 eggs
1 can pumpkin ( not filling)
1 c oil
1 c water
1 pack mini chocolate chips

bake at 350 for 60-70 minutes. yields 2 9 inch loaf pans

(I would have shared  a picture with you, but unfortunately the loaf is 3/4 gone already...I told you it was good.)

Also, a couple new pairs of baby booties for sale in my Etsy shop...I'm going to try to restock next week! :)

If you want first dibs on either pair of these: email me at and I'll hook ya up! I'm selling them for $20.00 each

Last but not least, since I love sharing secrets with you....I heard Target has 20% off all their women's clothing today only, AND Old Navy has 25% off today and tomorrow off everything.

Go Shopping online and help the economy! :)

Okay thats all the random-ness I got for you today....Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

{design board: boy's bedroom}

I really love designing rooms for young people.  I think the three most important factors when thinking about designing a room for a young person are: indestructible. versatility. and whimsy.  A combination of those three factors will get you a room that can span decades.  Buying transitional furniture that can grow with the child is key.  The navy blue day bed with spindle accents is one of my favorites. You could even tuck a trundle style bed on casters underneath this beauty for added sleeping space.  The indestructible vintage "locker" style storage unit will span almost an entire wall.  We all know how many toys a child collects in their lifetime.   This unit will allow the toys to be somewhat organized and confined and rather than scattered all throughout the room.  One focal wall behind the bed will feature this fun, forest- inspired birch tree wallpaper.  I love this stuff....its so rustic yet so modern. The window will be treated in this simple canvas stripe fabric which plays up the "stripe-y" theme in the room.   To carry on that theme the bedding will be done in a graphic white and navy stripe and the wood floors will be treated with a mustard yellow and white stripe rug.  Stripes are great because they are so popular right now for their graphic appeal, yet they are completely timeless....stripes never go out of style.  Some fun "doggy" inspired accent pillows in similar hues: navy, mustard, and red.  Who knew working with the three primary colors could be this much fun?  Of course, the room is completed with some fun and functional learning decor: the united states map, and the stand-up chalkboard, and globe bean bag.  To add some personalization we included a bright red child's pedal car and some unique "you are my sunshine" artwork.  Overall this room blends our primary three factors as well as the three primary colors into this functional room that is guaranteed to grow with the child into his teenage years.

Hope you all are having a great Thursday morning! I'm working on a cheap and easy DIY project today, can't wait to share with you all!

{wiww: chambray}

It's Wednesday, so you know what that means...I'm linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for another fun week of outfit inspiration!

Chambray Shirt: Target
Black Jeggings: Target
Camel Boots: Wally
Black skinny belt: Forever 21
Rhinestone Cuff: made by me :)

Well..... this outfit goes to show that yes. It's true. I have a love affair with Target and it's beginning to really take over my wardrobe.  I swear half my clothes are from Target!

 Especially now that I am a mom. Target is a dream store: cute clothes, affordable clothes, wide isles for plenty of room to fit mommies and carts, no loud obnoxious music, one-stop shopping....diapers & clothes, big shopping carts with plenty of room, starbucks, the scent of popcorn wafting through the air...really what's not to love?  No wonder half my clothes are from Target I love just about everything about the store....the only thing I don't like, is how much money I spend whenever we go there! Yikes! Good thing our nearest Target is a good 45 minutes away! :)

Thanks for stopping by this week! Y'all are the best!
Happy Wednesday!

{take a bow}

So I've never really had a reason to make a hair bow before....but I'm so glad I have an excuse now, thank you big sister and brother in law for giving me a little niece to spoil.

I whipped up this little bow for the littlest pumpkin in our family, I love how it turned out!

And best of all, now everyone will know she's a baby GIRL in her pumpkin onesie! :)

{design board: breakfast nook}

casual and comfortable yet completely stylish.  This breakfast nook design board is for a middle aged couple who are building their dream house now that their children have left the nest.  They are outdoor-sy people who love gardening and nature.  Thus, we were inspired by two of natures prevalent colors: blue & green.  The window treatments will be done in the graphic ikat pattern which pulls out the sea blue and olive green we will use throughout the space.  The break fast nook is lined with windows so the window treatment will make a huge impact and frame the gorgeous view of their backyard garden.  On the floor will be another more subtle graphic statement with a chevron ticked rug in neutral linen colors.  The table will be this gorgeous chunky pedestal table which has unique metal detailing around the edge.  This gives it a rustic chic look.  To add some texture to the room we will place 6 dark brown wicker chairs around the table to complete the look.  Above the table will hang this large outdoor-sy  pendant lantern.  We will put a dual purpose serving cart/console table next to the only blank wall in the space.  We will complete the look with some unique accessories, wicker vases, olive green dinnerware, zinc industrial letters spelling: EAT, and some fun linen napkins.  This breakfast nook is classy enough for a nice supper with the neighbors or casual enough for reading the newspaper with a cup of coffee on Saturday mornings.

{love : ghost chair}

Since Halloween is right around the corner, I thought I'd do a little feature on one of my favorite stylish chairs.... the ghost chair.  Fitting name for this month don't you think?

These have been around for a few years, but they are still popular as ever.  Their timeless lines, formal geometry, and traditional Louis XV style seamlessly blend together with their contemporary acrylic makeup.  This gorgeous combination means they can be paired with nearly any "style" of room.

Best of all, they work perfect in small spaces because of their "weightless" appearance, they don't take up any visual weight.  Or, they can also find a home in a larger space that you want to feel open and airy not heavy and blogged down.  Put them at your desk, your dining table, your living room, or even your patio, buy 1 or buy 8, they are sure to compliment your home no matter where you put them!

What do you think? Do you like ghost chairs? Or could you do without them?

I happen to be a lover.

Hope you all have a great Monday!  I better get back to working on nugget's costume! :)
