Just so my friends and family who read my little blog don't think I'm crazy and vain taking pictures of myself....I'm linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy.  You can see for yourself, hundreds of other women link up every week as well!  And let me just say there is some seriously stylish ladies out there!

I was inspired by the color combination of pairing black + camel.

Apparently mixing black and brown is no longer a no-no...and I love it! I'm so glad that rule went out the window.

black shirt: target
skinnies: target
camel booties: target
ribbon necklace: made by me
boyfriend watch: dillards
my crazy hair: lil blue boo curly hair tutorial...usually it turns out better than this, it got a little frizzy this time! whoops!

Did you notice my new necklace?
I originally planned on doing a little tutorial on it, but completely ran out of time and I figured it's simple enough to explain!

I just took 5 acrylic crystals and stitched them onto a piece of grosgrain ribbon with matching thread.  Then to give it a little extra I tied two 3" pieces of satin ribbon in double knots (one over the other), and lightly melted the edges of the ribbon ends through the heat of a flame to eliminate fraying.   I simply tied the necklace in a bow in the back...although you could attach a clasp if you prefer!

That's it...I told you it was easy! :)

Thanks for visiting me this week...come see me again tomorrow.
Hope you all have a very happy Wednesday!

{passion & grey+white}

I love this quote....

I think it's so important being a woman to know where your passion is, what your heart calls you to do.  Women are expected to do & be so many things in this life, that sometimes it's easy for us to forget about what we are truly passionate about.  We get so caught up in taking care of others, we forget to take care of ourselves.  Being a wife and a mother will always be #1 to me, but interior design is my passion.  I'm thankful and blessed to get to not only be a wife and mother, but now I get to finally pursue being designer as well.  I couldn't be more excited.  To find out more about my e-design consultations click on the "e-design
 services" tab right below my header.  And thanks again to all my family, friends, and blog readers who have encouraged me to pursue my passion!

Now, on to my favorite kitchen color combination: grey + white

If you check out my pinterest boards, you will find a plethora of grey + white rooms, but I am especially fond of this color combination in kitchens.  It just screams fresh, clean, and inviting!

See for yourself...

Love the collection of milk glass pitchers, bowls, and cups...

A kitchen island on coasters? ....genius!

Loving the light pendants....they are the 'jewels' of this kitchen!

Hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday! Come see me tomorrow for What I Wore Wednesday!

{overcoming my fears}

I overcame my anxiety and fear of firearms ...and shot my very first gun this weekend! Thanks to Mr.Cattlebuyer who gave me a quick lesson in firearm safety.

All I honestly remember is....

Thankfully, nobody was harmed in the making of this photo.  :)

Someday I'll have a proper office and it'll look something like this....

I'm still obsessing over neutral rooms...totally drooling over that slip covered desk! I need me one! :) I think it'd be super easy to make something similar with an old desk (or even two saw horses with a ply-wood board across, since your covering it it wouldn't matter!), some linen fabric and a piece of glass cut to fit the top! Perfection! I'm off to go look for supplies! :)

This weekend we will be tailgating and cheering on the' Red Raiders I mean! ;) Mr. Cattlebuyer got some free football tickets at work today! Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend whoever your cheering on!

{master bedroom}

Hello, Lovelies!

Did you notice my new navigation header bar? Did you see my new tabs I created?  You can now click on my e-design services tab to find out more about the interior design consultations I'm starting this October!  I can't wait!

 If you have any questions you can contact me at moderngracedesigns {at} hotmail {dot} com!

As for today, I am sharing a new design board with all of you...

This master suite features colors opposite the color wheel...plum and gold.  The warm/cold complimentary color combination always works great and was taken straight out of our inspiration fabric which features plum/gold/grey/lavender! The room is completely centered around the rich, luxurious eggplant colored velvet headboard!  The tufting is fabulous and it sets the tone for the rest of the room. The bedding is a simple pleated textural white duvet cover, which allows the headboard to be the focal point!  On either side of the bed will be two matching mirrored dressers which add a hint of glam to the room.  The Mercury glass lamps with burlap shades add some need bedside lighting as well as adding more texture to the space.  The bookshelf will hold the homeowners collection of books and the nail head/tufted chair will be a perfect spot to sit down a read a good book.  The gold rug will add warmth to the pumpkin pine wood floors.  Last but not least, some un-expected moth art work which pulls out colors already in the room and adds some interest to the wall.  This room board holds a jewel box of warm, rich colors which create the perfect cozy relaxing bedroom perfect for my clients!

Hope y'all are having a fabulous Thursday!

{wiww + diy}

It's Wednesday, so you know what that means....What I Wore Wednesday but today is extra special because I'm throwing in a fun and easy DIY project!

Thankfully it's beginning to feel like fall around here, especially in the mornings which means I get to break out my cardigan collection!

This is one of my fave-y faves, the grey + white stripes...

grey & white cardi: F21
grey cami: new york and co.
jeggings: target
gold metallic ballet flats: old navy
turquoise bauble necklace: uniques & antiques (I reconfigured it to fit my taste! Keep reading....)

So overall this outfit is kinda boring, but what makes it fun is the turquoise necklace that I found for $2.00 at a local antique store! I knew instantly I could reconfigure the necklace for it to be more interesting!

Y'all have seen these bauble necklaces everywhere right?

I love the the statement they can make when you pair such a fun necklace with a simple outfit!

so here's how I did it, it's easy-peasy:

1. Find a cheap-o thrift store/antique store necklace (round beads work best!) cut off the existing clasp and end beads if necessary.  Depending on how your necklace is put together you may need to tie off the ends, luckily my beads were adhered to the string they were strung on so that wasn't necessary.
2.  Find the center of the necklace and place each necklace end in the middle.
3. (THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP) Twist the necklace ends so the necklace wraps around itself.  Where each intersection of beads occurs, grab a small piece of fishing line and tie it in a triple knot.  I tied off the necklace in 6 places.  Then add a dab of super glue on each knot, allow to dry, then cut the ends of the fishing line.  You won't be able to see the fishing line because it will be hidden within the intersection of beads.
4.  Add two jump rings to each end of the necklace.
5. Add chain and a clasp to your new adorable bauble necklace and enjoy! :)

Happy Wednesday Friends!

Next week I have another DIY necklace project to share with you! Can't wait!

My nugget is turning the big O-N-E!

 I can't help but smile at how good God is to us.

We are so incredibly blessed!

{rustic glam dining}

I love to putting together formal dining room vision/design boards because the dining room is such a special room in the house.  The formal dining room is in most cases is used for 'special' occasions only and is one of the most basic rooms in the house serving one purpose and one purpose only....for eating!  How great is that?! :)

This board features a combination of rustic glam.  The main focal point of the room will be the chunky wood dining table which will really ground the space and add a hint of the 'rustic' flair.   Above the table will be two circular eclipse chandeliers which are a nod to the non-traditional and add a hint of the un-expected.  The table will have two black and white striped wing back captains chairs on either end of the table and in between will be a set of 4 basic parsons chair.  These are great because they are not only comfortable but completely timeless.  To contrast with the weight and style of the table and chairs will be a glitz-y mirrored buffet/serving table.  Above the mirrored buffet will be the large black and white horse print which provide a great backdrop for the overall setting.  Filling the room will be textured silver dinnerware and some glass apothecary jars and a simple light gray area rug.  This room combination is perfect for a casual birthday dinner for 2 or elegant enough for christmas dinner with the whole family.

Oh Roberto! How I love thee... (okay not literally him...really I just like saying his name in a funny accent!) Whenever I think of photography and horses I think of Roberto Dutesco! His photos are truely breathtaking...I can only dream of one day owning one of his pieces for our own home.  I know my horse-loving husband would surely approve! :)

Doing my typical What I wore Wednesday post and linking up with The Pleated Poppy!

Just to clarify for anyone new around here...wiww is for us mom's (particularly stay at home or work at home mom's!) who get in a rut of wearing the same ol' boring t-shirt and jean combination 24/7.  WIWW holds us accountable to get dressed and look good for our hubby's and for ourselves.  I know it's helped me stay away from getting into bad style habits since I've been home with my nugget! Whenever I get dressed, showered and do my hair, I always end up feeling better about myself! It's definitely a must! :) I would never use the word "stylish" and "me" in the same sentence...but it's fun to try new trends and see what other mom's are wearing!

So here we go...

butterfly shirt: Beals
skinnies: gap
camel booties: target
turquoise cross necklace: had it for-ev-ah! Made it a long, long time ago!

Hope y'all have a wonderful Wednesday friends! Thanks for stopping by....come see me again next week. Or comment with your web address so I can visit your blog today!  :)

{living room remodel}

Sometimes everyone needs a fresh start...a clean sweep.

This living room design board is just that for the young couple with a growing family with ever changing needs.  The main furniture is slightly modern with a touch of classic elegance. The mixture of textures is what makes the neutral color palate interesting to the eye.  The contemporary clean lined linen sofa is paired with a set of more masculine, dark leather wing back chairs.  The main hallway wall will feature a set of three leaning metal book stands which house family photos and a collection of books.  Touches of rustic, autumn colors will pop up throughout the room in the artwork and textiles.  The mustard yellow floral rug will add a pop of color to the otherwise fairly neutral room.  In addition to the rug, the Audubon artwork will also add some color to the walls.  The metallic silver frames, lamps, and accessories will add the perfect touch of "sparkle" to the room.  This living room is great because of it's neutral color palate, the family can change out the accent colors easily as their style and needs change over the years.

Hope you all are starting off your Monday on a great note! I'm working hard on putting together a few more design boards as well as working up all the details of my new e-design business I'm starting Oct. 1! I also am sewing up some new baby booties for a local children's exciting and fun! I hope to be able to share with all of you guys very, very soon!

Until then...I leave you with this cutie saying I found via pinterest.  (yes...i'm still addicted!)

and this image from our special day...such sweet memories!

Have a fantastic day bloggy friends!
