{i do}

admist baby planning...{i mean really... how do you really prepare and plan for a baby....?! haven't quite figured it out yet.} i've been meaning to do a little wedding planning. i know, i know, usually it goes wedding then baby. well not for us. for us, it goes baby then wedding. i like to think of ourselves as non-conformists. :)

however, wedding plans have been put on the backburner lately. But no worries, I have been gathering pictures of inspiration as I stumble upon them.... enjoy!
my favorite lilly of the valley

ha, this one just cracked me up, so i had to include it!

banana nut muffins? at a wedding?
okay maybe not, this may be pregnancy related hunger picture. oops!

pretty tablecloth

love the horse/rustic wedding theme. definitely going for that look...

okay I love everything, how casual it is, the time of day, the little brick pathway, the horse in the background, getting married under a tree. everything.

okay now applie pies at a wedding? yes ma'am!

i think the guests put their wishes on these tags and hung them from the tree, instead of doing a traditional guest book. I think it's cute, but maybe not practical in nebraska.

love the simplicity of the date on the invite. may have to copy something similiar for baby berg.

the only thing better than desposible diapers is...
barn doors.
they work in the most rustic to the most contemporary of homes. perfect for everyone.

pretty wood planks.
yellow + grey is so in right now.

"If one feels the need of something grand, something infinite,something that makes one feel aware of God, one need not go far to find it. I think that I see something deeper, more infinite, more eternal than the ocean in the expression of the eyes of a little baby when it wakes in the morning and coos or laughs because it sees the sun shining on its cradle."

~Vincent Van Gogh

somedays, all i do is dream of my boy. today was one of those days...

2 months and counting until baby bergen is here and i cannot wait.

p.s i may have to make this mobile below for Rover (don't you like the "r" in the background, it was meant to be!) , it just so darn cute and y'all know i got TONS of
fabric scraps! :)

happy tuesday!

{totally what i'm feeling like these days...}

Chance and I have been planning for sometime now that we would do a little get-a-way weekend, as in get away from Lincoln.... not as in a white sandy beach with a tropical breeze and the sound of ocean water splashing in the background. unfortunately.
Our first plan was Kansas City, far enough away yet, close enough we could do it in a weekend. Well that idea lasted about a few days before it died because I realized I loved my bed too much and even one night away from home was going to do me in. selfish, i know. but sleeping is such a luxury these days, i love every minute i can get in my own bed.

We settled on a day in Omaha. not quite the same, but it worked.

It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed our time there. I snagged some good deals on some new clothes, and got to spend the entire day with my favorite person.

so that's that. our vacation was far from an actual vacation, but it is nice to get away every once in a while and get out of Lincoln. it makes you appreciate home that much more, especially when your feet are throbbing from a long day of walking...i feel asleep at 9 last night! which means i didn't accomplish too much on the to-do list this weekend, but i better at least get something crossed off....must get to work!

love the look below, definitely bookmarking for wedding plans

hope you all enjoy the last bit of your weekend!

{me,myself, and i}

Well, tonight, it's just me at home. Chance is out with the boys and all 30 weeks of this {big}mama is plopped down in front of my computer screen. jealous? i thought so! ;)
luckily, i've been entertained by all my favorite famous blogger friends (okay, so they aren't really my friends, but at 30 weeks i feel as though pregnancy may be taking over my body and making me i'm going to pretend tonight. )
i've stumbled upon this gal's blog before, but i've never blogged about her....but i seriously adore her style. it's so classic and simple. i may be her blog stalker- but i can't help myself it's all so pretty!

.horizontal striped curtians.
i want to do something similiar for our place.
they make a statement, without being overwhelming. love them!

I also love the sweet little touches of robin's egg blue.

white plates? in the living room.... who'da thought!? so unexpectedly awesome!

the khaki walls with the hint of blue on the framed mirrior + the silhouette.

you should really check her site out for yourself. you may be inspired too!

Happy Thursday! :)

I'm an overly happy momma tonight, we signed "papers" {aka wrote a check!} with the lady who is going to be watching Rover in November!

here's the story:
I was getting so sick of meeting daycare woman after daycare woman....who knew there were sooooo many in this town!? You know how you sometimes just "feel good" about someone, well this woman was our very first interview/meeting with a daycare provider and I left there feeling like, "oh my gosh, we have to have to get in with her!" It was hard to keep an open mind because she set the bar so high and made me feel good mama feelings in my heart that all the other ladies we met after her, just didn't have a chance. no one compared.

the bummer was that this woman didn't have an infant spot! go figure....
so of course i was heartbroken (aka seriously stressed!).

....until my awesomely patient and persistant man made a few phone calls.

and sure enough, it was a done deal tonight! We got in! Two other couples never got back to her, so she is holding Rover's spot for November and I couldn't be happier.

Moral of the story: God answers prayers and it's pretty awesome!

I also hired my replacement who starts training tomorrow at the store.

my two biggest "worries" have been lifted, and I am so very grateful....

now we just gotta figure out a name for this little fella growing in my belly! (besides Rover!) :)

{p.s. I've been playing around with ruffled booties, what do you think?}

and for anyone wondering how my baby booties come packaged...look below!

i must have wedding bells on the brain because I {still} can't get over anything white.

all my favorite images are WHITE...coincidence?! I think not. ;)

love the hanger, definitely going to have to re-create it!

and since I's a few baby goodies

all made with lots of love.

Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!"

"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."

We need to choose what is better. We can not do it all. Which is something I have to remind myself of daily.
We must make little sacrafices, let things go, allow for messes and unfinished projects and dirty bathrooms and in the end, know that
G R A C E is what gets us through.
Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend, we are headed out of town tomorrow but i'll try and post pictures soon of some new projects. Also, big congrats to Michelle & Wayne on their engagement tonight! I love seeing people in love, it's what life is all about.

sorry friends- this week is flying by. every week closer to baby seems to go a little faster than the last....and my once "design" inspired blog has now turned into a baby "blah blah" blog. again i'm sorry. if you can't tell my mind and heart are on baby overdrive. but since I know you all are dying to know what i've been up to {only kidding! ;)}... here's some of the projects...

lovely little booties.

all i have to say is.....thank goodness i'm not having a girl! i can't even imagine the endless amount of girly booties I would be making at all hours of the day. I am already up to my ears in fabric and my sewing machine has had a permanent home on the dining table for the past 2 months! {Sorry Chance!}

These two pairs were ordered for a baby shower gift next month.

don't they just make you smile?

in addition to the booties...

i also whipped up a new boppy cover for baby. and custom crib bedding. oh yes and a random sunglass case i stitched up with some fabric scraps. i've been wanting to try out my ruffling skills so i figured this {small project} would be a good start. if you can't tell i've been living behind my sewing machine lately.

bubba's boppy cover

the nursery is off to a good start.....i'll post proper pictures when it all finished.

usually i'm not a zebra person, but i liked the green color- so I snagged a fat quarter and made myself a sunglass case. *please try not to notice my cheap-o sunglasses, someday I dream of owning a pair that cost more than $10....someday.*

oh, and to add one more random element, to this already very random post.

I really love this chalkboard....

happy wednesday! :)

as i enter the final phase of life before baby...{week 29 tomorrow!} i get bittersweet feelings.

somedays i still have to pinch myself that i am a mommy.

and the fact that god trusts in me enough to give me the gift of his child.

because afterall we are only raising god's children. my baby is his baby.

my heart overflows with happiness.

and as i look back on the past 29 is a list of the few things i will miss when rover gets here.

1. eating for two....i mean seriously what's not to love about that...

2. seeing his little profile on the ultrasound, i'm secretly hoping i get one more peak at him before he finally get here.

3. feeling his jabs and kicks all day long. i love them.

4. not having to hold in my stomach, ever.

5. the incredible nesting phase {which is still occuring!}

6. smiles from complete strangers.

7. hearing my baby's heartbeat through a little sound machine. amazing.

8. the anticipation of what he will look like, smell like, be like, and what we will name him!

9. the shape of my belly.

10. feeling the first flutter of life.

and there is so many more...but i know having him here, in person, will be so much more awesome.

please help me in welcoming the newest addition to the baby bootie collection here at modern grace.

another feminine pair ....don't worry i haven't lost my marbles due to pregnancy yet, these aren't for my rover.

these are sold for a gift to a very lucky little person....but i'm not revealing their mama's name for fear they may read my blog. oh yes, did i mention i'm also pretending tonight that i'm big and famous and that people {besides myself!} actually read my blog posts to begin with! :)

i know, half the time i'm just rambling to myself....i can't help it. but thanks for listening friends.
happy thursday!

{the afters}

Bills' Kitchen... the afters!
New countertop, backsplash, and walls.
The wall color actually came from the batch of swatches I picked out for them for the living room. It just happened to go great with the granite slab we picked out. The backsplash is a mixture of black subway tiles {if you know me, you know i love subway tiles!} and then some decorative square tiles that pick up some of the lighter tones in the granite. Overall, the kitchen remodel was a great success.
{thanks for letting me be apart of the transformation}

{the befores}

everyone loves a good before & after right?

take a peek.

but you may want to put your sunglasses on for the "before" pictures of the kitchen....
jus sayin' :)

we debated all day about what we would do tonight....and this weekend for that matter. being 6 1/2 months pregnant, i really don't ever feel like doing to much of anything in the evening. {besides eating some ice cream or something of that nature ;)} Lame would be a good word to describe my life/weekends lately. but lame can also be ridiculously fun.

we ended up spending the evening on the back of the tailgate watching fireworks at a nearby lake. {with ice cream of course!} dreaming about our babe. and honestly- it was perfect.

hope you all spend your weekend, dreaming about your own sweet dreams and relaxing....and especially this year {more than ever} i am thankful and grateful for all the men and woman that serve in the military so that we may enjoy our freedom and all the sweet blessings that life bestows upon us.
happy 4th of july!
